This past year, I have become an advocate for safe and secure social networking due to being a victim of cyber stalking in Febuary of 2010 and pressing charges in Cook County's Court System March 2011.  The Fox News Story is below...

Watch for more updates as I continue to spread awareness of cyber stalking issues.

"Abusive Relationships in Young Adults"
Christine has devoted the past four years to combating youth violence in Illinois. Growing up on the south-side of Chicago, she saw how scary the world can be at an extremely young age. She and her family were victims of gang violence and forced to move from their home after being tormented and robbed until they had no other choice.

Her passion to make a stand against violence arose when her best friend which was shot and killed by an ex-boyfriend.

One of Christine's greatest accomplishments has been speaking on the Illinois Senate Floor about the necessity of having a gang preventative program apart of every 7th grader's curriculum.

"EDGE - Education for Gang Evasion"
Christine is a spokesperson for Cook County's EDGE program, Education for Gang Evasion. She has spread the word of "Let's Give Our Schools an EDGE" to police departments, civic groups, school boards, and citizens. As Miss Illinois International, she will continue to address our leading educators and policy makers to promote EDGE at the state and national level.

EDGE is an 8-week program taught once a week in the classroom at the 7th grade level by a police officer. This program is a complement to the D.A.R.E. program which is taught to 4th and 5th graders. EDGE began in 1997 by the Oak Lawn Police Department and since it's inception more than 12,000 students have graduated from this program.

Police Officers visit classrooms once a week for 45-minute sessions during which students...
*Are given factual information about the dangers of gang affiliation
*Receive tips on personal safety and how to avoid being targets of gang-related violence
*Are exposed to problem solving and decision making skills
*Explore the concepts relating to violence and conflict resolution
*Learn alternatives to physical confrontation

Go Red For Women
Christine has participated in several fundraising and awareness events including most recently visiting the studios of NBC-5 to promote National Wear Red Day, joining with thousands of women, companies, organizations, and cities across America to help the American Heart Association support ongoing research and education about women and heart disease. She has also volunteered her time at health fairs and heart screening events as well as spending time visiting with heart survivors and sharing in their stories of courage and triumph.
